In the Bavarian region of Germany, the resort Bayrischzell offers a range of exciting outdoor activities to inspire you. It is mainly known for its excellent ski resort that draws many visitors to the area in winter. However, there are plenty of available activities to enjoy in the summer too. Bayrischzell hotels offer a comfortable and luxurious base from which you can explore everything that this beautiful part of Bavaria has to offer.

As a health resort, Bayrischzell provides visitors with a welcome change to recharge their batteries and get back to nature. Bayrischzell sits at the base of the Alps, at the foot of the majestic mountains. There are two great ski areas to choose from here. Sudelfeld is the largest with beautifully groomed pistes and over twenty lifts. Being one of the largest ski resorts in Germany, it is popular with locals and overseas visitors alike. Wendelstein is a much steeper ski area that is great for more experienced skiers and snowboarders or those of good intermediate ability. There are not as many runs here as there are in Sudelfeld, however, the runs that are available offer a challenging terrain over six miles of trails.

When you purchase a ski pass for the Sudelfeld area, you are also able to use the neighboring ski resort of Oberaudorf. This resort has a traditionally Germanic feel and is full of natural charm and Bavarian friendliness. This is an excellent resort for beginners, intermediates and families due to the prevalence of nursery slopes and gentler runs. However, there are some more challenging pieces of piste for more experienced skiers and snowboarders too.

If downhill skiing is not for you, there are plenty of Nordic trails running through scenic landscapes in the area. There are over seventeen miles of trails in total, which become excellent hiking routes in the summer, when you can explore the whole region and enjoy the fresh air and mountains. Some of the larger ski lifts are open in the warmer months too, to allow walkers to travel to the top of the mountains to relax and enjoy the views with a refreshing drink.

There are plenty of excellent places to stay in Bayrischzell, from charming Bavarian guesthouses to modern Alpine hotels. The guesthouses offer a traditional atmosphere with typical German hospitality. These timbered lodges are often family-run and offer comfortable hotel rooms with a Bavarian flair. With their wooden décor and brightly colored walls and traditional Bavarian country style, you will get a real taste for this region's vibrant culture. To make the most of the views, many of the hotel rooms include wooden balconies where you can sit and just relax after a hard day's skiing or hiking.

Some of the hotels provide health and wellness facilities such as saunas, jacuzzis and pools and because the town is known as a health resort, some of the hotels offer full spa facilities and beauty treatment rooms as well. These are a great way to chill out after all of the outdoor activities available here.

Many of the Bayrischzell hotels include excellent hotel restaurants, serving a range of Bavarian fare and international cuisine to suit the tastes of all their guests. In many of these establishments you can relax on a sun terrace while drinking in the breathtaking views of the Alps around you.

Bayrischzell hotels are very family friendly. Many provide family restaurants and have family rooms available, if booked in advance. Some even offer babysitting services so that adults can sample Bayrischzell nightlife. For visitors arriving with pets, you will be pleased to see that some of these establishments also allow pets to stay with you too.

Bayrischzell is just an hour away from the Bavarian capital city of Munich. This is a city full of wonder with its romantic castles and historic Bavarian buildings. It is a charming place with a unique culture. Munich is best known for its excellent beers and Bavarian cuisine. This is typically meat-based and is simple, home-cooked and hearty food, as it derived from the German rural population of this area. Some of the local delicacies that you should look out for are Pichelsteiner stew, sauerkraut and sausages, particularly the locally made Weisswurst, which is made with fresh veal and bacon.
